Srinagar, Jan 18 : Heavy snowfall has brought life to a standstill in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The National Highway has also been blocked because of heavy snowfall.
Srinagar today witnessed season's first heavy snowfall, which resulted in it getting cut off from the rest of the country.
The only road connecting Kashmir with rest of the country remained blocked for the last three days. The traffic on the 300-km long National Highway remained suspended.
Higher reaches of Kashmir received heavy snowfall at Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam hill resorts, while moderate snowfall continued for the second day in the lower parts of the Valley.
Authorities have set up a disaster management control rooms at all the district headquarters in the Valley to tackle any eventually. More than 15 persons were killed in avalanches last week.
