Gwalior, Jan.18 : It was a gala event of a different kind when many differently-able individuals participated in a State-level body-building championship held here recently.

Organised by the Gwalior Business Fair Committee jointly with Madhya Pradesh Body-building Association at the Mirgnayni Garden, the special event was appreciated by everyone in the audience who had to come encourage participants.

According to Shailendra Vyas, General Secretary of Ujjain-based MP Body-building Association said that the objective behind the body-building championship was to motivate the physically challenged individuals.

"We are trying to generate a positive outlook among the youth that they keep themselves sturdy, healthy and fit with exercise and play an important role in the progress of the country. Aiming all these things, we have organised these body-building competitions in entire MP (Madhya Pradesh) at the State and District levels. Now it is regarded as one of the famous contests," said Shailendra Vyas, General Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Body-building Association of Ujjain

Fifty three physically-challenged participants from various parts of Madhya Pradesh displayed their body-building skills . Everyone of the participants performed various postures to musical tunes.

Many participants danced while staging their demonstration on stage.

Mohammed Imran Ansari, One of the participants from Ujjain said that he considered himself as a normal person and participated in the championships with utmost confidence.

"If I had any negative thought in my mind, I would never get into bodybuilding. I never let my physical handicap to become a hindrance in life. I always consider myself as a normal person and I stepped ahead in this direction," said Ansari.

The participants wanted the Government to provide a platform for them to compete further.

"We want the Government to do something for us, provide some help to us so that we can do something in our life. I promise that the programme, which we are performing, will be good. We will make it successful. The government must support us," said Manish Raghuvanshi, another participant from Guna.

The success of this contest at the State level has prompted the organisers to extend it to the national level.
