External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today met his Canadian counterpart Maxime Bernier in New Delhi.
New Delhi, Jan 12 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today met his Canadian counterpart Maxime Bernier in New Delhi.
Bernier, who is on a two-day visit to the India, will hold wide-ranging talks on Indo-Canada bilateral relations and global issues.
The agenda of the discussion between the Mukherjee and Bernier was the prevailing situation in Pakistan, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the Canadian mission against the Taliban in Afghanistan, the suppression of human rights by the military junta in Myanmar and the recent political developments in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Bernier will also call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
India has signed landmark agreements with Canada in the last three years. In September 2005, the two countries signed the Agreement for Scientific and Technological Co-operation in New Delhi.
In June 2007, they signed the Foreign Investment and Protection Agreement (FIPA), which will ensure protection to investors in each other's market.
