Thousand of employees of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) of Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest on Monday demanding immediate payment of their salaries.
Srinagar, Feb 25 : Thousand of employees of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) of Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest on Monday demanding immediate payment of their salaries.
Demanding immediate release of their salaries the employees alleged that they have not been paid for the last four months.
They also demanded that the pending instalments of their provident fund should be released immediately.
The agitators complained that the promises made to them by the State Government have no been fulfilled.
They also blamed the State Government of not providing funds for the maintenance of old vehicles since 1989 saying that the number of SRTC vehicles has plummeted from 1650 in 1989 to 100 to date with 700 vehicles not fit for plying on roads.
The employees have requested the State government to provide special package of two billion rupees to revive the corporation.
