The ISA Vision Summit 2008 saw high quality of industry turnout at Bangalore today. Chief Guest Jairam Ramesh released the India Semicon Directory at the event. Reinforcing the importance of the event, he said, "I congratulate the ISA for their active role in working with the Government in shaping the semiconductor policy. Today's theme focused on the Indian domestic market is extremely relevant. The two drivers for demand are private drivers and public drivers. We need to focus on the public sources of demand. The semiconductor eco-system is the next frontier for scaling up."
In his keynote address Wipro Chairman, Azim H. Premji, said that with convergence the mutual dependence of the software and hardware sector was gaining relevance. Innovation would play a key role in the evolution of technology companies and ISA's role in shaping the industry could not be underestimated.
Special Secretary M Madhavan Nambiar underlined the growing importance of India as a manufacturing hub especially to manage geo-political risks and to address the Indian market.
ISA President Poornima Shenoy stressed on the need to meet the business interests of the industry through partnerships and on making decisions based on credible statistics. She spoke of the India story and its growing importance and relevance to the global investor community.
