A special CBI court here will pronounce its verdict in connection with the CPI-M MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case, in which Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lok Sabha member Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav is the main accused.
Patna, Feb 14 : A special CBI court here will pronounce its verdict in connection with the CPI-M MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case, in which Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lok Sabha member Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav is the main accused.
Earlier, CBI Judge B M Srivastava had reserved its verdict for today after hearing final arguments.
Srivastava directed the superintendent of Tihar Jail in Delhi to produce Yadav before him when the judgement is pronounced.
The trial that began on August 2, 2002 concluded following a Patna High Court order that it should be wrapped up by January 31. This deadline was later extended for a fortnight by the High Court.
Sarkar, who had a feud with Yadav over issues related to farm labourers, was shot dead in Purnea on June 14, 1998.
The CBI had chargesheeted five persons including Yadav, former independent MLA from Govindganj Rajan Tiwari, Anil Yadav, Harish Chaudhary and Amar Yadav.
