President Patil arrives on a three-day visit to Karnataka

President Pratibha Patil arrived in Bangalore on Friday afternoon on a three-day visit to Karnataka.

Bangalore, Feb.1 : President Pratibha Patil arrived in Bangalore on Friday afternoon on a three-day visit to Karnataka.

She was received by Governor Rameshwar Thakur and senior officials of the state and was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the three armed forces at the airport.

Patil is here to attend the valedictory anniversary function of Bangalore Mediation Centre.

Bangalore Mediation Centre is an alternative dispute resolution wing set up by the Karnataka High Court.

On Saturday, she will formally flag off the luxury train 'Golden Chariot'. The 'Golden Chariot' will start from Bangalore and cover Mysore, Kabini, Hassan, Belur, Shravanabelagola, Hampi, Aihole, Pattadakal, Badami and Goa.

The luxury train will start its trial run from second week of February and its full commercial journey of seven days and seven nights will begin on March 3.

The coaches have been named after the dynasties that ruled Karnataka.

On Sunday, she is scheduled to visit the archaeological monuments in Hampi, the seat of ancient Vijayanagar Kingdom.

She will also hold a meeting with Governor Rameshwar Thakur, three of his advisors, Chief Secretary P B Mahishi and Principal Secretaries of various departments.
