Three people including two majors and a soldier died when their helicopter crashed in Ladakh due to bad weather, a Defence spokesperson said in Jammu on Saturday.
Jammu, August 16 : Three people including two majors and a soldier died when their helicopter crashed in Ladakh due to bad weather, a Defence spokesperson said in Jammu on Saturday.
Major Padmanabhan and Major S. Ganapathy of the Army Aviation Squadron at Leh were on a rescue mission to evacuate an injured jawan when their chopper crashed due to bad weather, the sources added.
The helicopter lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) due to bad weather while returning to Leh.
Afterwards, the wreckage was found near a mountain pass in Ladakh.
The jawan E. Narshaih who was being evacuated and both the pilots were killed in the crash.
A court of inquiry has been ordered by the Army.
