Jathedar Vedanti challenges his removal

) Former Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, has challenged his removal from the post.

Amritsar, August 14, Former Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, has challenged his removal from the post.

He questioned the process the SGPC had taken for removing him from the post of Jathedar of Akal Takht.

He claimed that he had been the Jathedar for nearly eight years and was upset by the way in which he was removed.

He is keen that there should be a process for appointment and removal of the Jathedar and head Granthi of Takhts.

He produced a letter that he had written to SGPC on March 29, 2000 suggesting to the SGPC that it should constitute a committee of scholars for the appointment and removal of Jathedars of Takhts.

Asked whether he was removed for praising the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, he said that Dr. Singh had made the nation proud.

Vedanti said that serious allegations were leveled against him without any proof.

"I neither collect any donation in the name of 'Dharmi Fouzi' (army deserters) nor from Rashria Sikh Sangat. These are false allegation and I challenged them to prove the allegations ", he added.

Taking serious note on the present working of Taksals, he said, "In earlier times Taksals were used to produce good scholars but now these institutions deviated form the real path. By Ravinder Singh Robin
