The condition of Union Minister for Human Resource Development Arjun Singh, who is suffering from a stomach infection, is improving, the doctors attending to him said today.

New Delhi, Aug 1 : The condition of Union Minister for Human Resource Development Arjun Singh, who is suffering from a stomach infection, is improving, the doctors attending to him said today.

The veteran Congress leader was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) two days ago following complaint of severe stomachache.

"His condition is stable and he is improving," said Dr. D K Sharma, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS.

Singh, 77, has been diagnosed with the acute Cholecysitis (stomach ailment), cardio-artery disease, breathing trouble and kidney problem as a result of diabetes.

Singh is being treated by a team of doctors headed by Dr. T K Chattopadhyay, Head of the Department (HoD) of General Surgery, and Dr. Chandralekha, HoD, Anaesthesiology.

Once the infection is under control we might go for operation of the gall bladder," said one of the doctors.
