To express their take on the skyrocketing prices of vegetables and other commodities of daily use, members of Amritsars popular Idiots Club took to the stage in the local vegetable market.

Amritsar April 9, : To express their take on the skyrocketing prices of vegetables and other commodities of daily use, members of Amritsar's popular Idiots' Club took to the stage in the local vegetable market.
Members set up a stage inside the vegetable market in Raiyya about 35 kms on the Wagah road. They offered many loan schemes for everyone who chose to buy vegetables.
The Idiots set up a large board reading: "Idiot Finance Co." and offered various schemes through which the inflation affected families could take a loan and return it on easy installments.
The club also offered a free home delivery or provide security to those to those who chose to carry the vegetables themselves, as carrying vegetables openly might not be safe any more.
The target of this exercise was politicians.
Rajinder Rikhi, the President of Idiots' club, said that the motive was to make the public aware of their rights and shake the government from its slumber who has forgotten the needs of the people.
Bholu Amritsaria, a member of the club, feared that the day is not far off when vegetables would be declared a rare article and kids would visit museums to watch them.
Khairati Lal a vegetable shopkeeper enjoyed the performance of the 'Idiots' and said that most of the vegetables like tomato, onion, potato, ginger and many more, which are consumed routinely but have become expensive.
"It is government 's duty to keep a check on the prices of the commodities consumed by the poor," said Khairati Lal.
The Idiots' Club is a group of people in Amritsar known for its take on current events. The club takes up issues appearing in the idiot box and brings it out in the open.
Today, the Idiots' Club has over 200 members. Among members are doctors, engineers, or individuals running roadside food joints and electric shops. All of them enjoy meeting together on various occasions to launch satirical diatribes at civic authorities, politicians and unscrupulous holy men.
