New Delhi, Apr 8 : The Supreme Court will today hear the Uttar Pradesh Government's plea for getting the green signal for the construction of a research institute at the Ambedkar Park in Lucknow.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran will hear the case.
The permission to carry out construction has already been rejected by the Allahabad High Court.
The High Court on Friday had directed the State Government to maintain status quo on construction activities being undertaken in preparation for the birth anniversary celebrations of Bhim Rao Ambedkar on April 14.
After changing the use of 35 acres of land of Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park, the State Government had undertaken construction activities for setting up the Kanshi Ram Research Institute and Rama Bai Memorial in the area.
