Delhi CM gives green signal to BRT

The Delhi Government on Saturday announced that it would continue with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in the capital, but halted the further expansion of the transit.

New Delhi, Apr 26 : The Delhi Government on Saturday announced that it would continue with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in the capital, but halted the further expansion of the transit.

"'It has been decided that till this corridor does not become perfect, we will not undertake any expansion of the project," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters here.

Dikshit further said that as per the received feedbacks, the traffic on BRT was satisfactory with regard to buses, pedestrians and cyclists, with motorists facing problems.

"We will construct a parallel road to ease the problems of motorists," she added.

In all, six BRT corridors have been planned for the capital.
