The District Sessions Court in Kupwara has awarded life imprisonment to an accused who had killed a person 18 years ago.
Srinagar Apr.22 : The District Sessions Court in Kupwara has awarded life imprisonment to an accused who had killed a person 18 years ago.
Baju Bagoo was sentenced to life imprisonment on the basis of a complaint lodged on August 16,1991 by Durya Mann.
THe murder took place over a dispute related to the construction of a house.
Bagoo reportedly struck a strong blow on the head of Alam Din Katana, who was declared brought dead by the police and hospital authorities.
The sentence was passed after the prosecution examined eleven witnesses during the trial. All witnesses corroborated the contents of the First Information Report.
The prosecution was able to bring home the guilt of the accused under Section 302 RPC, who was accordingly convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the court with a fine of Rs, 5000.
His bail bond was cancelled and was taken into custody forthwith. The accused has been sent to Central Jail Srinagar.
