Nowgam Police has arrested one person for selling duplicate of a popular tea brand and has recovered a large quantity of duplicate tea and fake labels from his possession.
Srinagar, April 18 : Nowgam Police has arrested one person for selling duplicate of a popular tea brand and has recovered a large quantity of duplicate tea and fake labels from his possession.
According to Inspector Nazir Ahmed Teli, Nowgam Police was receiving regular inputs of duplicate tea being supplied to gullible customers by some persons in Srinagar.
He said that acting on this information, Nowgam Police recovered 80 packs of Duplicate "Girnar" tea weighing 250 grams each from Sonaullah.
He added that apart from these 80 duplicate packets of tea, police also recovered around 800 fake empty packs and labels from the shop.
Giving details about the modus operandi of the culprit, he stated that the accused used to get fake labels of the popular tea brands printed and then used to fill them with cheap-third grade duplicate tea which was then sold to the gullible customers at original price.
Teli further said that police have registered a case under Section 420, 482, 487 RPC. Further investigations during which some more arrests are expected.
