Fresh snowfall in Kashmir brings cheer to tourists

Unexpected snowfall in the upper reaches of the Himalayas has buoyed the spirits of tourists currently vacationing in Kashmir.

Gulmarg, Apr 17 : Unexpected snowfall in the upper reaches of the Himalayas has buoyed the spirits of tourists currently vacationing in Kashmir.

Gulmarg received around nine inches of snow over the past two days, bringing cheer to the tourists.

Covered from head to toe in winter wear, tourists could be seen reveling in the surroundings, as they made the most of this unexpected bout of good luck.

"I'm very happy to see the snow here at this time of the year. It felt really nice to see snowfall," said Ramesh, a tourist from Gujarat.

The snow held a special charm for the tourists from the plains, as it was a once in a lifetime experience for them.

"We were not expecting it so much. We were expecting only to see the snow, but after coming here, we see it's snowing over here," said Manoj Kumar, another tourist.

Singing and dancing, the tourists took the opportunity to play in the snow and also to ski and sledge in the hill resort.

The snow and rain had caused a dip of 3.7 degree Celsius in day temperature in the valley to 15.9 degree Celsius.
