New Delhi, Apr 16 : Exiled Tibetans gathered outside the Chinese Embassy here on Wednesday to protest against China hours before the arrival of the Olympic torch from Islamabad.

About 60 Tibetan Youth Congress activists were detained by Delhi Police as they tried to storm the embassy.

A huge security cordon and barricades have been put up around the Chinese embassy. n Tuesday, around 30 Tibetans took out their own "torch relay" from the Central Secretariat to the India Gate.

Sporting yellow jerseys emblazoned with slogans like 'Stop Killings in Tibet' and 'No Olympics in China', the youngsters clashed with police, who doused the torch.

Twenty-seven Tibetans were swiftly rounded up and taken to the Parliament Street Police Station.

The Delhi Police is maintaining a strict vigil to ensure that the protests are restricted to the Jantar Mantar area. The Home Ministry held a high-level meeting to fine-tune the security arrangements to ensure a peaceful torch relay on Thursday.
