Former President Abdul Kalam will undertake a three-day private visit to Canada from April 17.
New Delhi, Apr 15 : Former President Abdul Kalam will undertake a three-day private visit to Canada from April 17.
Kalam is visiting Canada to present the Global India Award, which has been instituted by the Canada India Foundation.
The award included plaque and 50,000 dollars, and is to be presented to Sam Pitroda for his outstanding contribution in the field of telecommunications.
Top Canadian politicians and other dignitaries, including India's High Commissioner to Canada, RL Narayan will attend the function.
Kalam is expected to share his insights with faculty and students of the University of Waterloo.
Widely regarded as People's President, Kalam will deliver a public lecture on Thursday, on the subject Canada and India -- Partnership in Global Development.
"This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear from Kalam, who is recognised as one of India's most progressive mentors, innovators and visionaries for his scientific and humanitarian work," said University of Waterloo (UW) Dean of Engineering, Adel Sedra.
