Thousands visit Agartala Book Fair

Booklovers in Agaratala had a festive time recently when many of them visited the 25th Agartala Book Fair held at the popular Sishuniketan grounds.

Agartala, April 11 : Booklovers in Agaratala had a festive time recently when many of them visited the 25th Agartala Book Fair held at the popular Sishuniketan grounds.

The 10-day event attracted thousands of booklovers who were eager to learn about the new arrivals and get hold of a copy of their favourite books or novels.

Over 150 publishers from across the country and even neighbouring Bangladesh participated in the book fair.

Along with the book lovers, writers and publishers were also very happy that the books released in the fair were witnessing a good response. Raju, one visitor said: "Over the years the Book Fair has become a landmark in Tripura's cultural life. With peace returning to the state such annual event has attracted more and more people. Till few years ago it was not easy to roam around so freely in the night but time has changed."

The book Fair, the annual drama festival and other cultural activities held here demonstrate people's confidence in peace and their desire to maintain it. By Pinaki Das
