After having the first ever shooting academy in the country, Bhopal now boasts of a fencing academy, equipped with latest kits and allied systems of international standard.

Bhopal, Apr 1 : After having the first ever shooting academy in the country, Bhopal now boasts of a fencing academy, equipped with latest kits and allied systems of international standard.

Fencing enthusiasts are now able to hone their skills and prepare for various events held at national and international levels.

Those interested in the sport have already started practicing in the academy, making use of the latest equipments provided by the Government.

"Now that we have these facilities, we can practice very well and even bring gold medal in the National Games," said Himalaya Vishwarma, a player.

The co-coordinator of Sports and Youth Development Department of Madhya Pradesh feels that the latest equipments and modern training facilities will make country's fencing players strong contenders in different fencing competitions.

"Fencing has become a part of Madhya Pradesh's martial arts. It is a sport, which has got good recognition in the World Championships, Asian Games and in other games and sports events held at different levels. Bhopal has the only institute which is well-equipped to provide training and coaching to the country's strong competitors," said Sanjay Chowdhry, Co-coordinator, Sports and Youth Development Department, Madhya Pradesh.

With the opening up of this academy, the sport of fencing is expected to become popular not only in Madhya Pradesh but in the entire country.
