New Delhi, Sept 9 : A 'family' car rally was organised in the national capital on Sunday with over 150 families participating in the event. The purpose of the rally was to bring the families together, lessening the gap between parents and children.
The unique fun-filled rally, in its seventh year, has been organised by a popular women's magazine.
The round-trip rally started off from the Tivoli garden in south Delhi and culminated after covering a distance of 75 kilometres.
For most of the participants it was an occasion for spending some quality time with the family, and having a blast too.
"I have participated in other car rallies in Chennai. But that was long time back. Now, with this rally those old memories will come alive. I have never really participated to win," said Archana Aggarwal, a participant.
And for children it was time for some 'family fun'.
"We have been participating for few years now. I enjoy this... it's time for family and fun. It's good to have all of us here; to meet and enjoy with the family," said Raman, a participating child.
Ambika Soni, Indian minister of tourism and culture, who flagged off the rally, said it added a splash of adventure to the concept of spending time with the family.
"Family time is restricted to going for a movie or eating out at restaurants, which they should do. But, they will be having an adventurous time here, the whole process of discovering something new together and the competitive spirit; so it's great fun," Soni said.
The adventurous car rally is a navigational rally run on International Time, Speed and Distance (TDS) patterns.
To make the event more interesting there is also prize money of 100,000 rupees for the winner.
