New Delhi, Sep 8 : A three-day special 'Experience Sharing Program' for member countries of the 'Association of Government Accounts Organisations of Asia' (AGAOA) begins here on Monday.
India is a founder member of the AGAOA along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Maldives.
The key objective of the AGAOA is to promote 'professional understanding and technical cooperation among member institutions through exchange of ideas and experiences in the fields covered by government accounts organisations to ensure transparency, accountability and good governance.'
The member-countries have agreed to collectively foster applied research, training and capacity building initiatives for human resource development and to meet the demands of a modern technology driven accounting and financial environment.
The programme is organised by the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF), the training arm of the Controller General of Accounts.
The Finance Ministry is expected to strengthen the process of information sharing on issues related to accounting reforms, internal audit and training needs of the member countries.
