Cooch Behar (West Bengal), Sept. 7 : Heavy rains and floods wreaked havoc in parts of West Bengal on Friday, rendering thousands homeless.
The lives of scores of villagers in West Bengal's Cooch Behar District are simply on hold, as the floods submerged their homes and farmlands.
Incessant rains and overflowing river waters have damaged or destroyed homes, inundated crops and blocked roads, forcing the villagers to look for alternate shelter.
Rajesh Sinha, the District Magistrate of the area, said that about 200 families have been provided with shelter.
All major rivers, including the Teesta, Tons, and the Mansi are in spate following the torrential showers.
