Rahul Gupta Appointed Citi India's Chief Risk Officer

In yet another demonstration of the status and priority accorded to the India franchise in its global strategy, Citi today announced the appointment of Rahul Gupta as Chief Risk Officer for the country. A veteran banker with extensive tenures both in Citi's regional Global Consumer Group organization and the Consumer and Corporate businesses of Bank of America, Gupta will provide country leadership to the Risk Management function for all of Citi's major businesses in India by establishing direction, aligning organizational goals and processes, and establishing consistent Risk practices in the country.

Working directly with Citi India CEO Sanjay Nayar, Gupta will also become a member of the India Management Committee.

Rahul Gupta is a seasoned professional in both Risk and Finance, and joined Citi's Asia Consumer Risk organization in 1999. He was appointed Asia Pacific Risk Management Head for the Global Consumer Group in 2001. His most recent assignment was that of Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the Global Consumer Group. In this capacity, he was responsible for Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology in Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Citi, Gupta was based in Hong Kong with Bank of America as their Senior Credit Officer and Regional Risk Director of the consumer business in Asia. He spent over 17 years with Bank of America in various capacities in the areas of consumer and corporate banking, financial institutions and capital markets in India and Hong Kong.

Gupta holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India and an MBA (International Finance and Marketing) from University of Southern California.
