Police on Thursday recovered nearly 10,000 detonators from a busy bus stand in Thrissur in Kerala.
Thrissur (Kerala) Sept 6 : Police on Thursday recovered nearly 10,000 detonators from a busy bus stand in Thrissur in Kerala.
The detonators were found near a bus leaving for Kozhikode after locals informed police about 'anonymous' boxes in the bus terminal.
No arrests have been made so far.
Though search are being carried out to locate the 'owner' of the consignment, police have also said that there could be possibility that someone may have forgotten the boxes, since such detonators are also used for mining purposes.
" Someone may have left it there. We are not sure to whom they belong to. The owner might have left it, but owing to police interference he was unable to obtain them. We are further investigating the case," said T. Chandran, Superintendent of Police, Thrissur.
The explosives were of Class-6 type, division-3, and were manufactured in Wardha in Maharashtra state, officials said.
Police said the detonators found were ordinary explosives, which when used with secondary explosives can prove to be highly destructive.
