Celebrating 20 years of publishing in the country, Penguin India released a set of five special commemorative editions on The Fiction Collection and The Non-fiction Collection.

New Delhi, Sept.6 : Celebrating 20 years of publishing in the country, 'Penguin India' released a 'set of five' special commemorative editions on 'The Fiction Collection' and 'The Non-fiction Collection'.

John Mackinson, Chairman Penguin Group, said: "The Indian book market has never been stronger than this. With the growth of book chains around the country the increasing number of ways reaching to customers directly. It is most vital time of book publishing and retailing in India"

Mackinson further said that besides publishing over 60 titles in Hindi, Marathi and Urdu, Penguin India would begin publishing in Malayalam from November this year.

Popular writer Shobha De said: "I have a long association with Penguin, all my books has been published by them and their successful completion of 20 years is a special event for me".

Commenting on young writers, she said: "The new writing is extremely confident, very vibrant andhallenging. Breaking a lot o rules that a writer should. It's proactive, and is reflection of a new India. The more writers there are, is actually the way one also judges the culture. When the literary scene is buoyant, it is always good for a country and culture."

To mark its 20 years in India', Penguin India would launch a series of 20 short books titled 'Indian Essentials' and a new-look website that would drive its 'read more' campaign, beginning October 27.
