Three new designers showcased their colourful collections on the second-day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) in New Delhi on Thursday, leaving the audience spellbound.

New Delhi, Sept 6 : Three new designers showcased their 'colourful' collections on the second-day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) in New Delhi on Thursday, leaving the audience spellbound.

Designer Drashta Sarvaiya along with the designer duo of Meher-Ridhima of the brand 'Affascinare' displayed some of their best creations at the WIFW.

The event started off with Meher-Ridhima's shows Kandisky 'On White', which left the audience wanting for more.

Inspired by 19th century, Russian painter Kandisky, the collection was an amalgamation of ivory and bright colours.

Simple wearable ivory dresses in chiffon, organza, taffeta had bright geometric patterns on them to add summer-spring feel to the clothes.

"Our specialty is combining colours, the combination of colours, the interplay of textures and this is what we have highlighted in the collection," said Meher Mirchandani, one of the designers from the Meher-Ridhima duo.

Crystals and sequins were sparingly used to add a dash of glamour as some of the country's most gorgeous models walked the ramp displaying the collection to the accompaniment of 'Diamonds are a girl's best friends'.

Voluminous silhouettes with box pleats and balloon hemlines gave the clothes very simple yet elegant look.

The event also saw some funky, individualistic, and colourful collection from debutante Drashta Sarvaiya.

This Delhi-based young designer took inspiration from Charles Dicken's novel 'Great Expectations' and came up with a passionate, vibrant, bold and paradoxical collection aptly labelled 'Paradiso Fondare', connoting paradise found.

As colourful as a bird of paradise, the collection truly reflected the spirit of spring-summer with an interesting colour palette that lent a fresh and breezy touch to the clothes.

The eccentric colour combinations and silhouettes made the collection quite striking and left the audiences mesmerized.

"The main character in the 'Great Expectations' is a painter and we have created a series of paintings and transformed them onto fabrics. I have a whole range which is digitally printed, then I have picked up the colours and I have really bright colours like parrot green, Prussian reds, yellows, greens, purple and I have created these solid outfits which are easy to wear," said Drashta Sarvaiya.

Sinfully attractive, and an epitome of feminity, this eye-catching idiosyncratic collection was not for everyone!

With debutantes bowling everyone with their creativity, the 'veterans' of the Indian fashion were not far behind to leave their mark on the minds of the people.

Vikram Phadnis, a name synonymous with Bollywood and film stars, revived gold plating, which was in vogue a few years ago.

His clothes had his trademark colours of beige, brown and gold.

Inspired from earth it was a beautiful collection, which drew lots of appreciation from the audiences.

"This is my interpretation of summer 2007-2008. I feel that is what Vikram Phadnis wants to present. I am not trying to change the country at large or the world. This is my interpretation. If you like Vikram Phadnis creation for Spring-Summer, its beige, brown and gold," he said.

After other designer's greys and muted palette and vibrant colours, Vikram's collection put forth an entire new colour palette for the Spring-Summer 2008.

More than 70 new and established designers will be unveiling their latest collections, and nearly a dozen new models will be taking part in this year's show.
