The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for establishment of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Bhubaneswar.

New Delhi, Sept 6 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for establishment of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Bhubaneswar.

The estimated cost for setting up the institute has been pegged at Rs. 823.19 crore.

761 posts in academic, scientific, technical, administrative and auxiliary categories will also be created.

The NISER will start functioning from the campus of Institute of Physics (IOP) and its academic programme will start from September, 2007, a Government release stated.

The Cabinet today also gave its approval to establish Translational Health Science and Technology Institute under the Department of Bio-Technology as an autonomous institution, with a total cost of Rs. 98.00 crore

The Translational Health Science and Technology Institute will facilitate development, optimisation and evaluation of technologies for public health in respect of biotechnologies by concerted work through an inter-disciplinary team.
