Tujan (J-K), Sept 30 : Security forces today shot dead two militants, who were holed up overnight in a village mosque in Kashmir, in a gun battle.
Troops cordoned the mosque in the Tujan area of Western Kashmir on Saturday evening after militants took shelter there.
The encounter ended on Sunday with the killing of Khursheed and Nazir Ahmed Dar, both belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen, police said.
"They were hiding inside the mosque. We took time in the operation, as we did not want to cause any damage to the mosque," said Ashiq Bukhari, Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam.
Dar, a local resident, arrived in India after eight years of stay in Pakistan, police said.
