New Delhi, Sept 30 : Outgoing Army Chief General J J Singh on Sunday said that he was satisfied over strides made by the country's army during his tenure.
At a special ceremony General Singh was given a traditional guard of honour in the national capital.
Singh told reporters the army was well capable of meeting internal and external challenges.
"We have faced challenges, we have surmounted them and in certain cases, things are on the way to being resolved," he said.
Highlighting the army's 'different' approach in sub-conventional operations, and low-intensity conflict, the outgoing Army Chief said that the Indian Army is professional in this regard and is also a "no-nonsense hard hitting force".
General Singh later handed over office to his successor General Deepak Kapoor.
