New Delhi, Sept 3 : Visiting Communist Party of China regional leader Wang Yang held talks with Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh here today to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
Wang Yang, the Secretary of the China's southwest Chongqing municipality, is leading a business delegation on a weeklong visit.
Ramesh and Wang Yang reportedly discussed various issues relating to trade and investment.
Ramesh later told reporters that the talks focussed on ways to increase understanding between India and China, to have more joint ventures and to expand economic and cultural ties.
Wang Yang, a favourite protégé of Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, is seen as a potential leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
He is expected to be promoted as a full member of the party's Central Committee during the upcoming Party Congress.
