Bangalore, Sept 29 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command today deputed senior party leader Yashwant Sinha to defuse crisis with the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) over the power-transfer in Karnataka, as State Tourism Minister B Sriramulu resigned from the coalition Ministry today.
BJP leader Sriramulu handed over his resignation to Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
Sriramulu said that his decision to resign was not under any pressure.
BJP Vice President in-charge of Karnataka, Yashwant Sinha will meet JD (S) chief H D Deve Gowda in a bid to sort out differences and enable a smooth transfer of power to the BJP.
As per the power-sharing pact, the JD (S) has to transfer power to the BJP on October 3.
The ties between the two parties have been strained since Sriramulu filed a criminal complaint against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
