ANZ Operations and Technology Pvt. Ltd. has won the ANZ Chairman's Cup today. This is an inter-corporate throw-ball tournament for women, in support of charity. Ms. Ashwini Nachappa, former Olympian athlete, was the guest of honor.
The tournament held at the Mount Carmel College grounds had a total of 16 participating companies.
8 teams qualified for the quarter finals. The results are as follows:
1. ANZ v/s Infosys (19-25, 25-20, 25-20) won by ANZ
2. Wipro v/s TCS (25-21, 22-25, 25-16) won by Wipro
3. Kingfisher Airlines v/s Sonata Software (25-20, 25-18) won by Kingfisher Airlines
4. LogicaCMG v/s CDC Software (25-14, 22-25, 25-19) won by LogicaCMG
4 teams qualified for semi-finals. The results are as follows:
1. ANZ v/s LogicaCMG (25-10, 25-18), won by ANZ
2. Kingfisher Airlines v/s Wipro (26-24, 26-24) won by Kingfisher Airlines
The finals played between ANZ & Kingfisher Airlines (25-19, 25-21) was won by ANZ.
Rs. 1.5 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh were donated to Parikrma Foundation, nominated by ANZ Operations & Technology Pvt. Ltd. and to Divya Foundation, nominated by Kingfisher Airlines, respectively.
Fred Bertram, Managing Director, ANZ Operations and Technology Pvt. Ltd. handed over the cheques to the representatives from the charity organizations. Speaking on the occasion he said "It is inspiring to have women in corporates coming forward enthusiastically to play for a charitable cause. ANZ Chairman's cup ties in closely with ANZ's efforts to earn the trust of the community and support diversity in workplace."
ANZ has recently laid the foundation of its partnership with non-profit organisation Parikrma Humanity Foundation by sponsoring a research study on its development model. By having the proceeds of the ANZ Chairman's Cup 2007 handed to Parikrma Foundation, ANZ continues to support Parikrma's mission of educating underserved children living in slum communities in Bangalore.
Ashwini Nachappa addressed the crowds gathered at the Mount Carmel grounds and made a thought-provoking observation, "In our busy schedule, we tend to forget social causes, and events like these are gentle reminders for us to make time to lend a helping hand."

An annual highlight of the corporate charity sports calendar, ANZ Chairman's Cup 2007, aims to support the energy and competitive spirit amongst corporate women of Bangalore by hosting a throw ball tournament, with proceeds from the event going to charities selected by participants.
