Vajpayee to give tomorrows BJP national executive meet a miss

The Bharatiya Janata Partys (BJP) national executive is meeting here tomorrow to draw a roadmap of partys strategy in the ongoing Sethu Samundram Project.

Bhopal, Sept 20 : The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) national executive is meeting here tomorrow to draw a roadmap of party's strategy in the ongoing Sethu Samundram Project.

The party will be also discussing the political situation arising out of UPA's growing distance from the Left parties over the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

For the first time, former Prime Minister and a BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee will not attend the three-day meeting of the executive.

Party's vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters that though Vajpayee was eager to attend the meeting, doctors have advised him to avoid it because of his health problems.

The meeting is taking place in Madhya Pradesh's capital after a gap of 11 years.

Issues related to Madhya Pradesh Assembly election that is slated for the next year, and political situation in Gujarat are also likely to be discussed during the meeting.

Party's spokesperson Prakash Javedekar said that the meet would also adopt two separate resolutions on "agrarian crisis" and the "internal security issue".
