Believe it or not, mouse as a pet can bring prosperity to your household.
By Lokendra Singh
Jaipur, Sept. 19 : Believe it or not, mouse as a pet can bring prosperity to your household.
Pandit Amarnarayan, an astrologer in Jaipur has around 300 white mice as pets. He collected them in the belief that they bring prosperity.
Amarnarayan says the mice, which were gifted to his son a few years ago, brought good luck to the family ever since they arrived.
"Around two years ago, a pair of white mice was gifted to my elder son Padmanabh by a family friend in Bikaner. They are Lord Ganesha's animals and very close to him. These little creatures are a symbol of love and peace for me," he said.
A spate of bad luck catapulted Amarnarayan's sacred beliefs into religious practices that he felt would ward off evil spirits.
An avid worshipper of Lord Ganesha, who is often shown riding a mouse, he believed the coming of these mice into his home was a heavenly sign.
Since then Amarnarayan and his family took to adopting mice and rearing them as pets. They fervently claim that they have seen an increase in their prosperity since then.
The family does everything to make the lives of the mice more comfortable - from feeding them at regular intervals to providing them with a clean home.
"I give them breakfast which comprises of pieces of bottle gourd and lotus stems. For lunch, they have rotis, rice, cereals and rice flakes. For dinner, I give them milk," says Prema Devi, Amarnarayan's wife.
Today, the family shares a strong bond with these mice.
Since the mouse is considered an ambassador of Lord Ganesha, they feel that God himself is living with them in the form of these mice.
