Amethi, Sep 18 : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is on a three-day tour to his Parliamentary Constituency of Amethi, during which he will launch the Amethi Gram Congress Project apart from his other engagements.
The Amethi Gram Congress Project would be implemented in 16 development blocks of Amethi from Tuesday.
The launch comes as an extension of the Congress MP's emphasis on taking along members from Dalit, backward classes and minority communities. It envisages the appointment of one worker per 50 families. About 8, 000 such workers would be appointed for 16 development blocks in the district and they would be given a ten-day special training in Delhi. Rahul today took stock of the Milk Procurement Units at Thakurganj, Raniganj and Gunnaur.
"When I go to the other parts of the country, I try to get ideas on how can Amethi be developed, what new can be done for the constituency. We pressurized NDDB and now nearly 20,000 people are getting benefit of the programme being run by NDDB," said Rahul
A scheme called Navin Sahkarita Prayas was also launched in the constituency, under which various freezing points have been made to save the milk from getting spoilt.
He also met the workers at these procurement units and discussed about the developments and the well being of the scheme.
He laid the foundation stone of a project under the Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna in Lalganj. He also inaugurated the new building of the Bar Association in Mushafirkhana.
