Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland, was discharged from the hospital today.
New Delhi, Sep 18 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland, was discharged from the hospital today.
The Chairman of the Medical Expert Panel for the Prime Minister, Professor K. Srinath Reddy, on Monday said that Dr. Singh is "convalescing after his surgery and is doing well."
The surgery took place to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland).
A team of doctors led by Professor N P Gupta, head of the Department of Urology, conducted the surgery on Saturday morning.
Singh, 75, was admitted to the hospital at 6 a.m. on that day.
According to sources in the Prime Ministers Office, Singh would function from home for the next few days.
