A court in Ambala will today hear the murder case of Dera Sacha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh, in which the Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is an accused.
Ambala, Sept. 17 : A court in Ambala will today hear the murder case of Dera Sacha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh, in which the Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is an accused.
Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge R K Saini had adjourned the hearing after five accused - Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil Singh, Inder Sain and Avtar Singh appeared before the court.
Baba Gurmeet is accused of murdering Ranjit Singh, who threatened to reveal the name of those who were involved in wrongdoings inside the Dera headquarters at Sirsa.
Ranjit was murdered in his native Khanpur Kaulian village in Kurukshetra District on July 10, 2002.
Baba Gurmeet was charged under Section 120-B (Conspiracy) in connection with the case. The other accused Kishan, Jasbir, Sabdil, Avtar and Inder were booked under Section 302 (Murder).
The CBI had also filed a chargesheet, accusing Dera chief of murdering a Sirsa-based journalist, Ram Chander Chatterpatti, and for the alleged rape of a Sadhavi.
Baba was also questioned by Punjab Police in connection with a case filed against him for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs in the month of May.
A case was registered against him following a complaint by a Bathinda resident, who accused Singh of hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs by donning the attire of the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
His projection as Guru Gobind Singh led to widespread agitations across the country, and to a locking of horns with the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), which sought an unqualified apology from him.
