External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that though India in known for its democratic ethos, it can deal with those who have toppled democratically elected governments.

Seoul/Bangkok, Sep 16 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that though India in known for its democratic ethos, it can deal with those who have toppled democratically elected governments.

''We have to live with the government of the day. It is the right of the people in the concerned country to decide what kind of government they would like to have,'' Mukherjee told reporters before his departure for South Korea.

"We wish Thailand well and look forward to cooperating with the new government that will come in after the elections,'' he added.

New Delhi has no problem dealing with any form of government and does not believe in interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, Mukhejee said.

On September 14, talking about "India's Look East Policy: Implication for Thailand and South East Asia", he said: "The core of Indian foreign policy has been non-interference in other country's internal affairs. It is for the people of Mayanmar to decide what type of government they want...what type of arrangement they want."
