Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland.
New Delhi, Sept. 15 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland.
Singh's Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru said that the surgery took place to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland).
"The Prime Minister was recovering and has had a stable post operative course," Baru added.
The Prime Minister will stay here for the next two days and it is expected that he will return home by Monday morning.
A team of doctors led by Professor N P Gupta, head of the Department of Urology, conducted the surgery, which was lasted till 9.00 a.m.
Dr. Singh, 75, was admitted to the hospital at 6.00 a.m..
