Rajasthan State Cabinet has recommended an extension of 45 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribes and 5 per cent for Scheduled Castes in several state government jobs, other than the state services. In the Tribal Sub Plan areas of the state scheme, the government has provided 45 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribes. This Cabinet recommendation is in accordance with the state Chief Minister Smt Vasundhara Raje's Budget speech 2007-08, where she had announced that this reservation will be extended to all services other than state services.
With this recommendation, local tribals in the notified TSP blocks of districts of Dungarpur, Banswada, Sirohi, Udaipur, Chittorgarh (Pratapgarh) will get the reservation benefit.
Similarly, the Saheriya tribes living in Kishanganj and Shahbad tehsil of District Baran will get benefit of 25 per cent reservation in direct recruitment to posts in pay scales of 1-9 of government jobs. The State Cabinet has approved extension of this particular reservation also in all government services other than the state services.
This recommendation will provide benefit for jobs such as Junior Engineers and below, Posts below rank of Dy SP in Police, Naib Tehsildars and Revenue Inspectors, Nurses, Compounders etc in Medical & Health Department, Accountants, Junior Accountants, etc, Co-operatives inspectors, Excise Inspectors, Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Inspectors, Transport inspectors and Inspectors of Commercial Tax Dept, etc.
