Hindus and Muslims held a prayer meet here on Wednesday ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi and Ramadan.
Hyderabad, Sept. 13 : Hindus and Muslims held a prayer meet here on Wednesday ahead of 'Ganesh Chaturthi' and 'Ramadan'.
Participants, holding photographs of Hindu deities and Muslim shrines, sang hymns and devotional songs celebrating the harmony between religions.
"All Hindus and Muslims are gathered here together, because we want to say that we are all one. We are Indians," said Manoj Alexander, a participant.
The prayer meeting holds significance as it comes almost three weeks after twin blasts in crowded parts of the city killed 40 people and wounded 80 others.
According to officials, the blasts were aimed at creating communal tension.
Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day festival marking the birthday of Lord Ganesha will begin from Saturday, while Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting begins tomorrow.
