Interpol has said that it would help India nab its most wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim, if New Delhi was able to give the specific information about the gangsters whereabouts.
New Delhi, Sept 12 : Interpol has said that it would help India nab its most wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim, if New Delhi was able to give the specific information about the gangster's whereabouts.
Director General of Interpol Ronold K Nobel today told reporters in the national capital that the first goal is to make sure where Dawood is.
"After that Interpol can only say that India has satisfied our standards that the underline basis for India's search for this person and request for this person is based on lawful judicial order, and India has agreed to take all steps necessary beyond that there is not much Interpol can do," he said.
New Delhi holds Dawood Ibrahim responsible for the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts that killed 257 people and injured hundreds.
Ibrahim, believed to be heading a vast illegal empire, is currently on the wanted list of Interpol for terrorism, organized crime and counterfeiting. New Delhi says he is staying in Pakistan's port city of Karachi, but Islamabad denies his presence in its soil.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), country's apex investigative agency, on the other hand has called upon the international community to join in to mount pressure to tackle the terror modules.
" The question is the world community fighting against terror mount kind of pressure that is required to deal with not only Dawood, but such other fugitives who been indulging in terrorist activists." said Vijay Shankar, CBI Director.
Dawood, also accused by the US of financing Islamic militants, has been put on a global terrorist list since 2003.
