Border management talks between senior Indian and Pakistani officials concluded here on a positive note on Tuesday.

Wagah (Punjab), Sept. 12 : Border management talks between senior Indian and Pakistani officials concluded here on a positive note on Tuesday.

The four-day meet saw both sides discussing various issues, including exchange of prisoners, checking of trans-border crimes and coordinated patrolling operations more effectively.

G.S.Gill, Additional Director General of the BSF, who led the Indian side, said both sides sorting out modalities for the speedy return of each other's prisoners.

"We have evolved a certain mechanism to facilitate the mutual exchange of people found innocent. In the past, we have experienced certain difficulties on the ground," Gill said.

Both countries inked an agreement in 1961 to set the ground rules for international border security.

India claims Pakistan broke these rules during the 1971 war.Border security consultations between India and Pakistan take place every three months, and are not part of the ongoing 'composite dialogue'.
