At least seven persons, including a policeman, were injured today as the activists of the outfits backed by Communist Party of India-Marxists (CPI-M) and Trinamool Congress continued exchange of fire in Nandigram in West Bengal on Monday.
Kolkata, Oct 8 : At least seven persons, including a policeman, were injured today as the activists of the outfits backed by Communist Party of India-Marxists (CPI-M) and Trinamool Congress continued exchange of fire in Nandigram in West Bengal on Monday.
Trinamool Congress backed activist were protesting against the acquisition of farmland.
A policeman suffered bullet wounds in the clashes that were continuing since Sunday at Ranichak and Hatengabari in Nandigram.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
On Sunday, a woman was killed and two others were seriously injured as fresh violence erupted in Nandigram.
Sporadic clashes between rival groups have continued despite the State government's decision against the setting up of a chemical hub in the area in the face of protests from a section of the people there.
