At least nine people were killed and several others injured when a major fire broke out in a textile mill in Panipat today.
Panipat, Oct 7 : At least nine people were killed and several others injured when a major fire broke out in a textile mill in Panipat today.
So far, nine bodies have been recovered, and the fire has been brought under control, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahinder Kumar.
According to initial reports, the cause of fire could be a short circuit.
The factory owner has been arrested and a case has been registered against him.
Kumar also announced an immediate relief of 15,000 rupees to the kin of those who died in the incident. They will also receive a sum of one lakh rupees under the Rajiv Gandhi insurance scheme.
