The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) panel will meet here today to finalise the selection of their candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha by-election, scheduled to be held on October 30.
Panaji, Oct 6 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) panel will meet here today to finalise the selection of their candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha by-election, scheduled to be held on October 30.
A panel headed by former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had their first meeting on Friday.
"The decision is likely to be taken on Saturday evening. We have certain names in our mind but the final name will be pinned down only after consulting senior leaders," said Govind Parvatkar, BJP spokesman.
The by-poll was announced after former Congress MP Churchill Alemao resigned from his post. He floated the Save Goa Party and won the assembly election this year.
The South Goa constituency has been a Congress bastion barring in 2000 when the seat was won by BJP candidate Ramakant Angle.
