Srinagar/Jammu, Oct 6 : Scores of Muslims took to the streets here on Friday to protest the designing of a bar in the US as a replica of the Muslim holy site Khana-e-Ka'ba and also against reported Israeli excavations near Islam's third holiest shrine in Jerusalem.
The protesters shouted anti-American slogans and demanded closure of the bar Mecca Apple.
"They have made a replica of Ka'ba (the Muslim holy site at Mecca in Saudi Arabia) in America. We condemn this as an insult to all Muslims and particularly the Islam," said Sibte Shabbir Ahmad, a protester.
The protesters also set on fire Israeli flag and demanded withdrawal of its forces from the Mosque al-Aqsa.
"We raise our voice for holy al-Aqsa mosque. These are the days of etakaf (special prayers offered in the last 10 days of holy Ramadan). We are denied an opportunity to get blessed in al-Aqsa mosque. We protest this and request all Muslims to try and set the mosque free," Ahmad said.
Jerusalem's al-Aqsa mosque complex is known to Muslims as al-Haram al-Sharif and to Jews as Temple Mount.
