President Patil to arrive in Kerala today

President Pratibha Patil will arrive here on a two-day visit later in the day.

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 : President Pratibha Patil will arrive here on a two-day visit later in the day.

A grand reception, including a guard-of-honour by armed forces, has been organised to accord to Patil on her arrival.

Governor R L Bhatia will host a dinner for her in the evening,

On Thursday, Patil will be accorded a civic reception at the Central Stadium.

During her visit, she will inaugurate the Clean Kerala Programme, a scheme to award 10,000 scholarships to students and a programme to develop the skills of sports persons.

This will be the President's first visit to Kerala since she was sworn-in in July this year.

Tight security arrangements have been made in view of her visit.

From here, Patil will proceed to Chennai on November 2. She will drive down to Kalaivanar Arangam to take part in the convocation function of Mother Teresa University.

She is scheduled to leave for Delhi the same day.
