Andhra Pradeshs Nellore District continues to reel under floods.

Nellore (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 30 : Andhra Pradesh's Nellore District continues to reel under floods.

Heavy damage has been caused to rail and road networks in the State's four south coastal districts during the past five days due to heavy rains lashing the region.

Nellore, Kadapah, Chittoor and Prakasam Districts in Andhra Pradesh received heavy rainfall, inundating several villages.

The worst affected was Nellore District where the death toll is reported to be 12.

Four persons were washed away in flash floods near Mamidipalli in Nellore District on Monday.

Two persons were drowned in Kadapah District, officials said, adding three others have gone missing in the district.

Heavy rains are lashing coastal areas under the impact of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen have been warned against venturing into sea.

The authorities have stepped up evacuation of people to safe places.

Transport and communication services in the two districts have been badly affected due to flash floods.
